Caroline and I arrived at the Cricketers just after 18:00 to find Keith had beaten us to being the first. Over the next 30 mins 13 other bikes arrived, giving 15 bikes in total. It was great to see Colin arrive on his 125cc AJS, it’s so good to see him back in the saddle again after quite sometime away from 2 wheels. Also, Peter Bugg and his son came along on 2 lovely Matchless machines. Speaking to his son later, he was struggling just a bit with gear change and brake being on the wrong sides, but he seems to have manage ok.
We set off with Paul leading us down the A120 with drop off system in operation and Tail End Charlie doing his usual good job. Then across to Feering and through Tiptree, Salcott and Layer and Abberton Road, where we picked up the Mersea Road. We all arrived at the Mica Centre and after parking up and seeing Bernie’s welcoming smiling face and Kim of course, we all went off to the Chippe for some nourishment. The Mica centre was available – thanks to Paul – for us to sit and eat and obtain a drink from the Bar. The Sun shone, bikes looked great and the company was pleasant as always, what could of made a better evening. We all started to depart in our own time and as we crossed the causeway with the Sun going down all seemed right with the world.
See you all on the 2nd July Club Night, where we can do it all over again – weather permitting
