It was wonderful to see so many of you at the Christmas Dinner on Wednesday. I believe the Cricketers did a good spread for us, I certainly had more than enough food and mince pies and I hope you all felt the same.
I will do a fuller write up later next week but the highlights were:
- The Ralph Davis Cup. This went to Dale Clutterham for his efforts to continue to get to club events despite his continuing convalesces after a serious accident involving an Amazon delivery van.
- The Reeve Family Cup. This was awarded to Peter Bugg and Son for their participation on a Lovley brace of Matchless motorcycles and for bringing his Son into the pleasure of Classic motorcycling. It’s the next generation that we need to keep the enjoyment going.
- The Alan Jones Cup. Went to the legend that is Vic Sayers. Despite the weather he stills arrives on a bike and has completed over 850,000 miles on 2 wheels, which he knows as he records the mileage of every bike he has bought.
- The Gordon Levett Cup. This went to the 2 people who without which I couldn't keep the club running. They are a constant support and takes on the organisation and finances. The award went jointly to Caroline and Kim.
- The John Lay Cup. This final and most prestigious award went to a long running member of the club. He is an unassuming character whom has quietly assisted the Club members on many levels: collecting the subs, organising the MICA for Fish and Chip run and obtaining the Motorcycle papers for club night to name a few, and all whilst struggling with his knees and mobility. We were proud to award the cup this year to Bernie Hunt.
